About Coach John
In 2019, at the age of 48, I made the decision to start doing CrossFit because I wanted to try something different. The unique concept of the CrossFit community immediately resonated with me and captured my heart. Training in this environment has been highly fulfilling, largely because it allows you to share both your successes and disappointments with like-minded individuals who genuinely want you to succeed. The support and encouragement found within the community make every workout more meaningful.
My passion for the sport led me to transition from being solely an athlete to taking on the dual role of athlete and coach. I take great satisfaction in helping athletes progress from the "I cannot DO THAT" stage of their fitness journey to the "I will TRY" stage resulting in the “I DID it” stage. I am always here to assist anyone who is ready to accept guidance and support. I enjoy encouraging athletes to attempt new exercises and try lifting heavier weights. At the same time, I prioritize creating a safe training environment with constant supervision to ensure the proper form and technique are used, helping to prevent injuries.
Outside of CrossFit, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife, of over thirty years, my three daughters and granddaughter. When not with the family, I also enjoy hanging out with friends, playing golf or watching sports at a local establishment.
Coaching Philosophy: Simply summed up by one of my favorite quotes:
"Don't come to practice to get in shape, get in shape to come to practice"
This emphasizes the importance of consistent practice and preparation.
